If you are pregnant and have already decided on an abortion, there are a few things you’ll need to know. In Utah, you are required to receive informed consent, and then enter into a 72-hour wait period before you can have an abortion procedure.
Before the abortion, it is a good idea to find out for sure if your pregnancy is viable. Meaning, make sure that you will not miscarry. Statistics show that *10-20% of known pregnancies end in miscarriage.
The cost of an abortion can vary, and can cost over $500. Come visit us at Journey Clinic for a free pregnancy test and consultation appointment with a nurse. If your test is positive, we can schedule you for an ultrasound exam free of charge.
Why should you have an ultrasound?
- It will be helpful for you to know for sure if you have a viable pregnancy. If you have a non-viable pregnancy you will need different medical services. We will make sure you have appropriate referrals for care.
- It is important to know if the embryo is implanted in your uterus or another place. An embryo implanted somewhere else is considered an ectopic pregnancy, most often in the case of ectopic pregnancies, the embryo implants in the fallopian tubes. This can be dangerous and needs to be diagnosed by a medical professional right away.
- It is also helpful for you to know how far along you are. This will help you make the best choice for your situation, and help you to know what type of abortion may be available to you. We will be able to provide you with information on the different types of abortion procedures.
Once the results are in, you will be able to make an informed decision on the next step you choose to take.
After all, it’s YOUR CHOICE.
***Our desire is to make sure you have all the information you need to make an informed decision. We DO NOT however provide or refer for abortion services.
